Evaluate, Review & Analyse

With a deep understanding of operational realities combined with a practical understanding of the legislative responsibilities of industry, agency and local government before, during and after emergencies we are well placed to undertake system wide reviews.

Undertaking system-wide reviews, evaluations and assessments allows organisations to:

  • identify emerging issues
  • provide reliable, evidence-based information on what is working well and where improvements can be made
  • identify ways to continue to learn and improve
  • provide staff, customers and community with confidence that the emergency management arrangements are fit for purpose

The Six C’s undertakes system-wide reviews for businesses, government and NGO’s.

Emergency Management Reviews

With the recent changes to the Emergency Management Act 2013, combined with the ongoing challenges of COVID-19, now is the perfect time to review your emergency management systems and processes. An independent review of your emergency management capability is the first step in ensuring that you and your team are able to effectively respond to and recover from any emergency.

Reviews are aligned with relevant legislation and standards to ensure your organisation meets or exceeds best practice within your sector.

  • Review of emergency management plans
  • Review polices, procedures and manuals
  • Review organisational capability
  • Review roles and responsibilities

Following a systems-wide review The Six C’s can develop:

  • Policies and procedures
  • Training and development pathways
  • Emergency management plans

Evaluate and Review

Evaluations and reviews facilitate the ongoing improvement of emergency management arrangements within your organisation. After Action Reviews can be undertaken immediately after an emergency event that required your organisation to respond.

It is important that after all emergency events After Action Reviews are conducted to ensure learning and improvement occurs within your organisation.

The purpose of an After Action Review (AAR) is to identify key observations, opportunities for improvement and best practice with a focus on what happened and what may be done differently in the future. Capture lessons learnt and improve the way your team responds to emergencies.

AAR’s can also be used by any organisation to raise the bar on organisational performance with a goal of sustaining competitive advantage. Time is valuable and repeating mistakes wastes time. For organisations to succeed in dynamic and challenging environments they need to ensure they are doing all they can to learn and stay relevant.

Benefits of an AAR include:

  • Team members acquire a more complete
  • knowledge of both the technical and human factors problems that they confront, enabling them to develop plans for doing better when faced with similar problems in the future
  • Teams will be more adept at setting more realistic and achievable performance goals
  • Team members gain confidence in themselves and their team mates knowing that corrective action is taken when problems occur
  • Through discussions team members develop a common perspective or perception regarding the successes or problems that were encountered.  This provides the team with a common reference point which they can build upon in the future.

With over 15 years conducting AAR’s for emergency response agencies during and post disasters The Six C’s are best placed to facilitate AAR’s for your organisation.

Discussions will be conducted in a safe and caring environment where participants feel confident to share their experiences therefore providing valued contributions resulting in better learning outcomes.

AAR’s can be conducted via a mixture of group workshops and individual discussions.
